Simple Steps To Make Caramel Apples at Home

My 8-year-old son came to me with the idea of making caramel apples prior to Halloween.  He had spotted it in a children’s magazine he was reading and wanted to know if we could give it a try. It was my first time making them, but it was SUPER simple.

Pictured above are the items that you will need. One package of caramels (40 ct.) should coat four to five apples. If you snitch several caramels to eat beforehand like me and my little helper did, you will probably end up with enough caramels to coat only four apples. Just sayin’….

Wash and dry apples, remove stems and insert a wooden stick into the apple (stem-side).

Unwrap the caramels, add two tablespoons of milk and microwave for one minute.  Stir. Microwave for one more minute.

Work fast to quickly coat the apples with the hot caramel sauce.

Place on wax paper and allow the caramel apples to “set.”

That’s all there is to it. It was a fun, quick fall kitchen activity that my boys enjoyed.  I wanted to share this in case you want to do it with your family, too.
